City Lights catches a young Lee Morgan already sounding assured, with the Tone Poet edition giving this Blue Note session the kind of presentation it deserves. The playing is crisp and beautifully balanced, with hard bop drive on the title track sitting alongside more relaxed movement in 'Tempo de Waltz' and the long-form stretch of 'Just By Myself'.It is an early Morgan date, but there is nothing tentative about it - the phrasing, attack and ensemble feel are all right there.SIDE ONE:1. City Lights2. Tempo de Waltz3. You're Mine YouSIDE TWO:1. Just By Myself2. Kin Folks
