The kentia palm, also known as Howea Forsteriana, is a relatively slow growing palm. The palm originates from Oceania and is very popular nowadays as an indoor plant. This large plant will undoubtedly bring an exotic atmosphere to your office or living room. The Forsteriana is the only kentia species that is being grown in our climate. It belongs to the palm family with a graceful way of growing and soft leaves with a beautiful shiny dark green colour. It is also one of the oldest houseplants.

The ideal temperature for this large palm tree is between 15 C° and 25 C°. From February to September, weekly watering is sufficient. The rest of the year the plant only needs watering once a month. The palm is very easy to care for because it needs little water. It is important, however, that the soil does not remain dry for long. The Kentia prefers a position in shade or semi-shade. The plant should never be placed in direct sunlight, as this will burn the leaves. Therefore, it is best to place it near a north-facing window. If the leaves become lighter or yellow, move it to an area with more shade.
