The Brighamia is a striking palm tree from Hawaii. The plant grows endemically, which means that it is only found in a certain area. in case of the Brighamia, it only grows in Hawaii. This plant has long been threatened with extinction, but thanks to specialised cultivation techniques, the palm is currently thriving. As an indoor plant, the Brighamia is striking due to its unusual appearance: the fleshy stem is formed by a large wreath of light green leaves. The small yellow flowers appear in October and November.

The palm may lose leaves due to change of location or stress during winter periods. This is a natural phenomenon and new leaves will soon grow in return. Do not worry if the lower leaves turn yellow and fall off. This is a natural process which ensures that the plant retains its distinct appearance. Important: do not place the Birghamia in a sunny spot. This palm does not like direct sunlight and prefers shade/half shade.
