With the Iresine Herbstii, you’re adding a very special plant to your plant collection! The Iresine Herbstii is also known as the ‘Bloodleaf’ or ‘Beefsteak’ plant. The plant is originally from Brazil and owes its unique nicknames to its leaves, which resemble steaks according to some. The plant may not be very well known, but the beefsteak is great fun to bring into your home or to give as a gift! It fits well in many interior styles and can also be taken outside after the Ice Saints, which makes it even more versatile. The Iresine Herbstii ‘Rich Gold Star’ has gorgeous soft green and yellow leaves with beautiful patterns on a bright pink stem that will bring colour to every room.

The steak plant prefers a spot with a lot of light, but without direct sunlight. The perfect spot, for example, is in front of a north-facing window. It is important that the soil of the plant is always slightly moist, but make sure that no layer of water remains at the bottom of the pot. In fact, this can cause root rot. It is best to water the plant in small amounts at a time. In winter, the plant needs little water.
