Bring a tropical atmosphere into your living room with this beautiful houseplant! The Strelitzia Reginae, better known as the Bird of Paradise plant, originally comes from South Africa. The Strelitzia Reginae is an enormous eye-catcher due to its large pointed leaves and beautiful orange and blue ornamental flowers. The adult height of the bird of paradise plant in the house is approximately 150 cm. The Strelitzia is cultivated outdoors and can therefore have some spots or leaf cracks, this is part of the plant.
The Strelitzia Reginae prefers a place with a lot of light. Because of this the plant needs a lot of water (pay attention to drainage to prevent root rot). Give less water during the winter, the soil is allowed to dry out regularly. In addition, the plant can also be kept on the terrace in spring and summer. The plant is not winter hardy so should be brought back inside in October at the latest.
