Can you feel it? Amidst the rainclouds, the ever-present grey sky and crowds of commuters dressed in head-to-toe black, spring is coming, bringing new fashion trends with it to brighten our day - and the season ahead.

For ladies looking to shake off those dark clothes we've got Brights & Florals, plus one or two Pastels, to help get your garden party started. Set to be huge this year, we've enlisted Elle magazine's very own editor-at-large, Stacey Duguid, to give us some fashion-insider information about the trends - plus who should wear them, and how.

And something for the boys? Ever been inspired by Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders? Our menswear team has - and who could blame them? From flat caps to tweed blazers, waistcoats to brogues, it's the prohibition-era all over again - without the restrictions on your social life.

The most exciting thing about springtime at Debenhams, is our mission to style you fabulous - 24/7.

We've got the collections to make you feel amazing, with in-store personal shoppers on hand to help fashion a look that's tailored to you. And it doesn't stop there, with our newly launched online Style Advice service just a click away - helping to guide your style wherever you are.

On a romantic note, we're seeking to inspire brides-to-be by exploring potential themes, with occasion wear designer Jenny Packham offering her expert hints and tips. But, before you rush to the altar, we suggest you make a date with denim - our exclusive shoot reveals the true potential of the 'his and hers' wardrobe classic.

Sit back, relax and take in the new season styles for women, men and, of course, the little ones. Spring is in the air - only at Debenhams.

The spring/summer months are almost upon us,
bringing with them the new season trends.

But what to wear and who should wear it? In this issue
Stacey Duguid, Elle magazine's editor-at-large, takes us
through the fashions to follow and the items to covet.

The new spring colours are dazzling reds,
canary yellows, fuchsia pinks and a deep sea
blue so pretty you'll yearn for warmer
weather. You'll wear the new colours with
elegant floral prints that are either exaggerated
and overblown or as small and delicate as
snowbells.

This trend is as ageless as it is timeless. It's also democratic in terms of shape, and there is something for everybody - regardless of whether you prefer dresses or mannish trousers. Read on for further convincing.

Why not pair a pink floral print dress with mismatching
shoes (perhaps in cobalt blue?) for a spring wedding?
Add a white handbag to complete the look - if you
don't own one, 'tis the season to invest one.

If trousers are more your thing, wear them wide
and slouchy with a top in the same print. Synch in
at the waist to give the silhouette definition. Have
no waist? Then ditch the matchy-matchy top, wear
something plain and throw on the Red Herring floral
print bomber
instead. A bright pink biker jacket is
also a modern way to wear tailoring. Wear it over a
soft pink floral print dress for special occasions.

The Betty Jackson.Black floral print opera coat may seem a little dressy, so wear it over slim-legged jeans and a t-shirt for a look that's casual enough for daytime. Every woman should own an impact coat this spring.

SHOP THE BRIGHTS &
FLORALS TREND

Pastel pinks, lilacs, yellows and baby blues. These colours have been around for a while now, so we've had a little time to get over the shock of wearing colours usually associated with six month old baby girls.

Having said that, the pastel trend is not just for the
young (or babies); the over thirties can also look
terrific in it too. Soft, dreamy and less harsh than
white, pastels are ever-so-flattering on the face.

Tailoring is a good place to start, as there are lots of smart pastel coloured jackets to choose from. This pale pink cocoon coat by Red Herring is the perfect spring coat, with so many ways to wear it:

1) With a t-shirt and jeans during the day.
2) On a date over a short, sassy dress.
3) To dinner over slim-legged black trousers and a
fine knit.
4) With smart, white wide-legged trousers and a
pastel pink top - fabulous for the office.
5) With a midi-skirt in the same colour and
white t-shirt for day.

I could carry on infinitum, which can only mean one
thing - the pastel pink coat is not only a spring
must-have buy, but it's also a fashion genius too.

SHOP THE
PASTEL TREND

A fashion-forward swipe of
eyeliner in turquoise, green or
blue is the perfect way to wear
the pastel trend. Apply a flick
above the lash-line or create a
smouldering smokey coloured
eye look by blending and
smudging.

Zebra, tiger and snake print all in one outfit, worn avec cheetah print shoes and topped off with a jingly jangly beaded bag. That's tribal, right? Wrong, thankfully. Fear not, warrior women of the UK, this season the tribal trend is grown up, powerful and daytime appropriate.

The trend can be worn by tribal teens and
fabulous-at-fifty's alike, albeit in a very different way,
of course. The trend is focused on dresses and
less so on tailoring, but there are lots of must-have
tribal accessories to be had, which can update a
look without buying a whole new outfit.

Teens and twenty-somethings could
experiment with jersey bodycon dresses printed
with holographic florals and flat sandals. Those
of us avoiding bodycon like the plague may like
to try a Ben di Lisi monochrome striped pencil
skirt
- work with a deep red top for an elegant
colour clash. Alternatively, wear with a mismatching
bright blue shoulder bag and black, clunky jewel-
encrusted shoes (girl power sandwich board
optional).

For those who only wear black, I have two
bits of good news; A) black is very, very on
trend this spring and B) you can easily wear
this trend because the colourful, clashy tribal
accessories will look even more powerful set
against the simple backdrop of your black
ensemble. Ahh, perfection.

SHOP THE
TRIBAL TREND

Tribal prints are everywhere this
season. To complete the look
create a sun-kissed golden glow
by contouring your cheeks, nose
and chin with a bronzer. For
added glam factor apply a gold
metallic eyeshadow to the lids.

This summer give yourself a beautiful sun-kissed
natural makeover with delicious cocoa-toned
shades mixed with a touch of gold shimmer
as seen on the catwalk shows of Christian Dior,
Dries Van Noten, Donna Karan and House of
Holland. Define and sculpt your features by
applying bronzer to the cheeks, temples and
chin and golden metallic eyeshadow to the lids
and even the brows for that extra glam factor.

As winter makes its exit, out too goes the
autumnal shades of purples and berries and
in enters a palette of pastels that look good
enough to eat. The way to colour the eyes,
cheeks, lips and nails is with a dusting of peach,
a flash of pink or a combination of the both.
Pastels made a welcome appearance on the
catwalk shows of Rochas, Emilio Pucci, Burberry
and Dolce & Gabbana.

This season opt for a barely there make up
look as seen on the catwalk shows of Balmain
and Alexander Wang. Prep the skin with
serums, primers, BB creams and hard working
moisturisers that make your skin look healthy,
fresh and radiant. To complete the look use a
concealer and if you wear foundation make sure
it is light in texture and coverage for a natural
and luminous look that lasts all day.

Matte and bold lipsticks packed a punch on
the catwalk shows of Antonio Berardi, House
of Holland and Rag & Bone. This season be
daring with your lippy choices and opt for acid
oranges, vibrant reds and hot pinks. For best
results use a lip primer to keep the colour put
and a lip liner so the colour doesn't run.

Blue is definitely having a moment after it was
seen on the catwalk shows of Marc by Marc
Jacobs, Badgley Mischka and David Korma.
You can create this electric statement lid in a
number of ways. Apply to the inner corners of
the eye, opt for full on coverage, experiment
with colour blocking or go all smokey.

A classic garment that has remained contemporary, this
spring/summer we invite you to explore your love for
denim with our super-stylish edit of looks for him and her.

Here comes the sun, bringing with it fabulous
new trends for the style savvy male. Are you a
modern-day traveller, straight out of Peaky Blinders
or simply a man who likes to dress to impress?

Undecided? Our new season edit will see
your style spring to life.

The focus is on simple, smart dressing
with a mix of grey, navy and the
bluest of blues.

Key elements include cotton & lightweight worsted suits - team with a geometric printed shirt or a simple, smart plain option.

The chelsea boot makes a triumphant
return this season, but the essential
accessory is a new take on classic
wayfarer sunglasses.

A kaleidoscopic blend of print & pattern,
seen through the tinted glasses of a
modern traveller.

Heavy washed denim, or above the knee
swim shorts, are worn with vests, tees or
short sleeve shirts. The magic is in the mix
- combine patterns and elements of tie
dye in order to create this eclectic trend.

The backpack is fundamental, but tinted
sunglasses, braided belts and woven
plimsoles help complete the look.

The well-dressed man is a beautiful sight to behold;
think the suited and booted Beckham, the charming
James Bond and the dashing David Gandy.

With the classic male more reliant on the tricks of
his tailor than the turn of the trends, we've listened to
the advice of our expert menswear team in order to
bring you this - the definitive guide to the must-have
items for every man in spring/summer '14.

With a wardrobe this good, the world is his oyster.

An essential for every stylish man's wardrobe,
spring fashion is all about the statement suit. In
the warmer months a lightweight option is key -
look hot, don't feel it.

When it comes to styling options, you can keep
it classic with a crisp cotton shirt or, if you prefer
to stand out from the crowd, team your suit with
a brightly coloured or patterned shirt.

Not for the faint-hearted, the less fashion-

Made in Chelsea. It might be easy to fault the
show itself, but no one can argue the cast
is certainly a stylish one.

Do you ever look in the mirror and feel in need of a
makeover? You can't quite put your finger on why, you just
know that your style, no longer works for you.

Sound familiar? We know the feeling. Life can throw many
style-curveballs our way over the years be it a career move,
change in weight or even motherhood.

For this issue, we challenged a busy mother of two, and esteemed 'mummy blogger' Rebecca Maberly of The Doctor and Daughter's Guide to Pregnancy, to put our Personal Shopper service to the test. After having a baby boy less than a year ago - a little brother for her two year old son - Rebecca was keen to find an adaptable style to fit every aspect of her life, revealing one hot mama in the process.

http://doctoranddaughter.co.uk

A freelance writer and blogger,
Rebecca often meets clients for
lunch to discuss projects. With no
formal office to head to, the luxury
for Rebecca is the lack of need for
formal, boardroom-ready attire - but
she still wants to look smart, chic and
professional.

For this look, Personal Shopper Alain
selected a look that was perfect
for smart daywear. Combining a
neon yellow top from Oasis with
floral trousers from Warehouse,
he accessorised with neon orange
Red Herring heels and a statement
necklace, also from Oasis.

The whole look was colour block-inspired, with Alain encouraging Rebecca to team neon orange heels with a neon yellow top. He explained: "Clashing brights is 'in', so don't be afraid to mix your colours."

Rebecca's verdict:

"I really liked this! I always thought that neon yellow
would clash with my hair, but
it really worked. I always
wear skinny jeans and have
never even tried on a pair of
loose-fitting trousers before,
but they felt great and I loved
the floral print. I'd definitely
enjoy wearing this out to lunch
or on a casual night out with
my husband."

Our verdict:

A risky choice from our PS -
but it definitely paid off.

Congratulations - you just got engaged! Amidst the
rush of love, the surge of excitement and - it's ok, you
can admit it, a tiny feeling of smug contentment - you're
maybe feeling a little overwhelmed?

If so, don't worry. There may be a lot to plan before "I do",

your wedding inspiration in no time.

Sending you well on the road to happy ever after.

An ideal setting for fairytale romance, a country garden is
the dream location for the traditional bride. To perfectly
complement the church, the flowers and obligatory marquee,
embrace all things vintage for a truly traditional style.

The country bride should
keep her look luxurious;
think lace, beautiful beaded
decorations and delicate
embellishment. Brooch
adornments, frills or soft
peplums will serve to
enhance the picture-
perfect vision.

Demure and elegant, keep
your bridesmaids neutral in
nude tones or the softest of
pastels. Knee-length styles
are a traditional choice, but
feel free to opt for a mix of
designs if you'd prefer to give
the day a modern twist.

Decorate that marquee with
beautiful pieces from the
Ashley Thomas range of home
accessories; nostalgic patterns
give a nod to vintage, while
the boho feel of the range will
give your country reception a
look that's home sweet home.

While weddings were once a strictly formal affair, in latter years
it's become increasingly popular to flee the British shores.
Plump for a bash directly on the beach, and the groom won't
be the only thing to make you feel hot.

A 'venue' with a carefree
sense to the occasion,
dresses should be floating
and flattering, with flowing
skirts and soft necklines; think
hippie chic, wedding style.

Light and delicate, the beach
beauty's bridesmaids should
look light and breezy, with
dresses - long or short - in
pastel shades that blow in
the wind.

In keeping with the side-theme
of hippie chic, the beach
wedding post-bash should be
decorated with a difference

like the beach-bound bride.

Jenny Packham, one of our
Designers at Debenhams and
renowned creator of exquisite
bridal and bridesmaid gowns,
took the time to share with us
her wedding-related wisdom
- for all those brides-to-be in
search of a little dress-related
inspiration.

SHOP NO.1 BY
JENNY PACKHAM

  • A wedding day is such a special moment in many women's
lives and, above all, you must feel comfortable and beautiful.
If a bohemian-inspired style is what you're after, I would
suggest a soft and romantic silhouette rather than
    accessorising with statement jewellery.
  • It's important to embrace the fact that your dress is right for
the time you buy it - don't worry about it looking dated in
the future. Your wedding dress will always remind you of a
    moment past, because it was.
  • I love the idea of incorporating 'something borrowed' into your
wedding day by borrowing sentimental and economical items
from mothers and grandmothers, linking past and future
    memories.
  • When it comes to choosing your bridesmaids' dresses,
it's important to take everyone's personal styles into
consideration, ensuring everyone is comfortable on
    the day.
  • I love the idea of each bridesmaid wearing a slightly different
style or tone of dress to the other, allowing you to be
sympathetic to different shapes and preferred styles.
Varying hues of the same colour can work beautifully.

Every parent wants their kids to look fabulous, but keeping up
with the changing fashions - and their growing bodies - can
play havoc with the most flexible of pursestrings.

In this issue, we've sorted our new season kids' collections
into perfectly affordable price points of €20, €30 and €50. For
baby, toddler, tween and (almost) teen, our boy/girl wardrobe
suggestions reveal the true price of style.

From frilled shorts to diamanté jackets,
girls will love our selection of the prettiest
pieces in the classic denim shade.
